The Rotaract Club of People’s Campus was chartered on 1st March 2011 under the sponsorship of the Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas, with Rtr. Prasanna Tamrakar as the Charter President. Chartered with 29 passionate members, the club embraced “Fellowship through Service” as its guiding motto Over the years, the club has made significant contributions to community development and youth empowerment. Early initiatives included blood donation drives and sporting events like basketball, swimming, and rock climbing. A nationwide inter-school chess tournament was also hosted and covered by Kantipur Television, highlighting the club’s growing impact.
One of its milestone projects, “Education Dolpa” (RY 2014–15), earned widespread recognition and multiple awards for its outreach to remote communities. By holding the Club General Meeting at the Mardi Himal Base Camp, which is located at a height of 4,800 meters, the Rotary Year 22–23 club made history by adhering to club meeting protocol and inducting new members. The club annually hosts various interactive events to strengthen Rotary-Rotaract fellowship and promote leadership.
In the Rotary Year 2023–24, the Rotaract Club of People’s Campus proudly hosted one of the most significant events of Rotaract District 3292, “17th Rotaract District Assembly, District Leadership Training Seminar, and Recognition Ceremony”, bringing together Rotaractors from across the district to celebrate leadership, learning, and collaboration.
In the Rotary Year 2024–25, the Rotaract Club of People’s Campus actively contributed to Rotary International’s global mission of eradicating polio. The club conducted a Polio Eradication Campaign in collaboration with Phutung Health Post, where members volunteered on the ground to support the vaccination of over 2,700 children in Tarakeshwar Municipality. Additionally, the club launched its tenure-defining initiative, “Target 10,000”, aimed at educating and empowering school children on critical issues. Through this impactful campaign, the club reached over 8,500 children, delivering awareness sessions on topics such as good touch and bad touch, self-defence, menstrual hygiene, and more. The initiative received international recognition and was honoured with the Ugram Appreciation Award – Winner Category for being the Best Project of the year among the South East Asia. Weekly meetings are held every Friday at 4:00 PM at People’s Campus, promoting continuity, inclusivity, and service-driven leadership.
As President, I am proud of our club’s legacy and grateful for the unwavering support of our parent Rotary Club, Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas. Together, we continue to serve with passion, lead with integrity, and build a stronger, more compassionate future.
