Help to Mother’s Group in Chitwan

The NAWA JAGRITI MAHILA Cooperative’s were desperate to find a donor to purchase Laptops for their day-to-day administrative use. The group lead by a lady is an all-women’s group and they help marginalized ladies in their locality with various activities. Their tasks include provide micro finance to the needy households and teach the unemployed ladies with basic survivor skills. Some of the work they have been doing is poultry, animal husbandry, embroidery, and vegetable farming. Their work so far has been praised by the locals.

For all this work the women’s group were using old methods of keeping the records by using exercise books and details handwritten in them. Capt Ash, who lives in the area was approached by the women’s group and asked for the laptops to help them solve their problems.

For this our friends in Northallerton RC came to rescue. Lyn and Jan better halves of our club Honorary members John P and Duncan D managed to organize Coffee mornings and boot sales and raised the money to help the women’s group in Chitwan.

Major Lilbahadur Gurung, Mrs Sunita and Rtn Krishna Adhikari travelled to Chitwan to handover the Laptops in one special ceremony kindly organized by Captain Ash. It was a happy occasion all round. The women’s group have asked The Himalayan Gurkhas to convey their sincere thanks to Northallerton Rotary and in particular two kind-hearted ladies Lyn and Jan for their generosity.

May our friendship continue…..
