A one-day free Kidney screening was organized at at Eladi Health Post, Ward # 4, Waling Municipality, Syangja. Total 383 people benefited from the free camp on 18th November 2017. In that camp, one person was found to have a liver infection. About 15 percent of them were found to have protein leak in their urine, and most of them had high blood pressure and some of them had diabetes as well. The free Kidney screening camp started from 9:00 in the morning and continued till 15:00 in the afternoon.
The free Kidney screening camp was organized in coordination with Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas and Andhikhola Tamu (Gurung) Society, Kathmandu with the technical support of Human Organ Transplant Center, Bhaktapur and Aarogya Foundation, Pulchok. Eladi health post was the local organizer for the camp. The main objective of this camp was to make aware people about kidney disease and its long term impacts. Mr. Dilip Pratap Khand, Mayor of Walling Municipality also had his kidney tested and also donated his organ.
A team of 20 people including Senior Nephrologist, Radiologist, Medical Officer, Lab Technician, Staff Nurse from Human Organ Transplant Center (Now its known as Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center), Bhaktapur conducted the free camp. Senior nephrologist Dr. Santosh Gurung briefed about kidney disease and also explained how kidney disease occurs; and various measures to prevent it. Ward chairman Mr. Randhwaj Gurung congratulated and thanked to Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas, Andhikhola Tamu (Gurung) Society, Kathmandu, Human Organ Transplant Center, Bhaktapur and Aarogya Foundation, Lalitpur and he also expressed his sincere thanks to all the team members for the generous work. Further he handed over the token of love and letters of appreciation to all the team members; and involved organizations.
