The Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas distributed the educational materials to the Musahar Children in Daraiya, Biratnagar on 25th December 2021. The children were studying in Pathibhara Lion Janata Adhyayan Kendra informally. The centre was established by Mr Raj Kshetri to provide basic education to the Musahar children. Mr Kshetri is the Person with Disability himself and has been managing the center since few year ago. There are 40 children studying in the center. President Rtn. Satta Bahadur Gurung, member Rtn. Capt. Harak Sing Thapa and Chair of the Public Image Rtn. Rum B. Gurung were present in the handover programme.
Below listed materials (worth around NPR. 200k) handed over the children:
- Track suit – 80 sets
- Woolen sweater – 40 sets
- Sports shoes – 40 pair
- Woolen cap – 40 sets
- Socks – 80 pairs
- Notebooks – 260 pieces
- Pencil – 260 pieces
- Other food items
The main sponsor for this support programme was our club member Rtn. Capt. Harak Sing Thapa and other fund was collected by the members of the Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas. Adhyayan Foundation, Kathmandu provided stationery items likewise other non-Rotarian Ms. Ms. Bimala Gurung, Gorkha (now in Kathmandu), Ms. Khemu Gurung, Gorkha (now in Kathmandu) and Ms. Yamu Gurung, Kaski (now in Lalitpur) also supported to this good cause.
