17th Charter Day virtual celebrations

The Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas was chartered on 10th September 2003. The 17th Charter Day of the Club is celebrated today i.e. 10.09.2020 virtually due to current global pandemic situation. The chief guest of the event was District Governor of the RID 3292 Rtn. Rajib Pokhrel. Likewise, charter President Rtn. Maj. Gopal Gurung, AG Rtn. Ambika Shrestha, Rtn. Rajendra Shakya, Chair – District Publication, & GML Sub-Committee and Chair District Training Committee /Member Secretary ERRRP; President of the Rotaract Club of the Peoples Campus Rtr. Ms Juna Pun were also present in the virtual charter celebration programme. Three Honorary member of the RC Himalayan Gurkhas from UK; Rtn. John Proud, Rtn. Barry Pollard and Rtn. Andy Morrison were also joined in the event.

At the beginning of the programme, Rtn. Mr Lok Bahadur Gurung briefed about the rules of the event to all the participants. Likewise, President Elect. Rtn. Mr Satta Bahadur Gurung addressed the function by welcoming all the distinguished guests. Then after, President Rtn. Siri Prasad Gurung started the RWM meeting no. 742. In between, President Rtn. Mr. Gurung introduced the active charted members. Rtn. Maj. Lil Bahadur Gurung, MBE, MPHF – International Fund Coordinator; presented overall project activities done in past by the Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas. He thoroughly presented theme wise service projects carried out in Nepal by the Club; which are already completed and ongoing too.

Chief Guest District Governor Rtn. Mr Rajib Pokhrel congratulate the club and all the members for celebrating its 17th Charter Day. He told that, the RC Club of HG has been doing tremendous jobs in the service project implementation in Nepal. Also he emphasized to increase the members in the Club. He further suggested to the club to collaborate with other RC Clubs in regards to receive global grant fund.

Itr. Ms Prasansha Chand, President – Interact Club of the Valley Public; briefed about her journey as an Interactor. Likewise, Rtr. Ms Sadikhsa Kandel, IPP of the Rotaract Club of the Peoples Campus also presented her journey as a Rotaractor till the date. Rtr. Mr Ranjeet Bhandari and Rtr. Asmita Bhatta shared their poem about inter-relation between Rotary Club and Rotaract Club. Honorary member of the Club Rtn. Mr. Andy Morrison from UK; also congratulate the club and its members for celebrating 17th Charter Day. Also he shared his happiness on achieving progress on the project implementation by the RC Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas.

Virtual cake cutting programme was one of the attraction of event and President Rtn. Siri Prasad Gurung took a lead for this. Past President Rtn. Maj. Yam Bahadur Gurung delivered vote of thanks during the event. He thanked to all the dignitaries and stakeholders who provided a great support to make this programme success. At last, President Rtn. Siri Prasad Gurung adjourned the programme. Secretary of the RC of the HG Rtn. Bhoj Bahadur Khatri; played the role of Master of Ceremony in the event.
