The Rotary Club of the Himalayan Gurkhas was chartered on 10th September 2003. The 18th Charter Day of the Club was celebrated on 10th September 2021 virtually due to global pandemic. The Chief Guest of this event was Assistant Governor Rtn. Manoj Kandel. Likewise, Charter President Rtn. Maj. Gopal Gurung, Past President Rtn. Maj. Lil Gurung, Past President Rtn. Maj. Bhim Gurung, Past President Rtn. Narayan Gurung, Past President Mr Yubaraj Gurung, Past President Krishna Adhikari, Immediate Past President Rtn. Siri Gurung, President of the Rotaract Club of the Peoples Campus Rtr. Mr. Manoj Shrestha, President of the Interact Club of Valley Public School Ms. Numa Thebe were also present in the event.
Past President and Sgt-At-Arms Rtn. Mr. Narayan Gurung briefed about the general rules of the event to all the participants. Likewise, President Elect. Rtn. Mr Lok Bahadur Gurung addressed the virtual event by welcoming all the distinguished participants and guests. Then after, President Rtn. Mr. Satta Bahadur Gurung started the RWM meeting no. 769 and started the discussion on the regular club businesses. After this, Charter President Rtn. Maj. Gopal Gurung addressed the event. He shared about the history of the RC Himalayan Gurkhas. He further briefed about how the Club was formed and tireless efforts from the Charter Members. Rtn. Maj. Gurung thanked to the Past District Governor Mr. Tirtha Man Baidya and Mr. Dilendra Shrestha for the support during the beginning of the Club. He informed that Rotary Club of Kathmandu North East sponsored the RC The Himayalan Gurkhas and GSR was Mr. Mingma Sherpa.
President of the Rotaract Club of Peoples Campus Mr. Manoj Shrestha shared his journey as a Rotaractor. He also congratulated to the RC The Himalayan Gurkhas for its 18th anniversary. Chief Guest Assistant Governor Mr. Manoj Kandel congratulated to the club and all the members for celebrating its 18th Charter Day. He appreciated for clubs tremendous service projects. He further emphasized to increase the member (women member as well) in the Club. He further requested to the club to contribute to the Rotary Foundation.
Virtual cake cutting programme conducted during the event lead by IPP Rtn. Siri Gurung. Past President Rtn. Yubaraj Gurung delivered vote of thanks in the 18th Charter Day celebration programme. He thanked to all the dignitaries and stakeholders who provided a great support to make this programme success. At last, President Rtn. Satta Bahadur Gurung adjourned the programme. Club Admin Chair Rtn. Bhoj Bahadur Khatri was the Master of Ceremony in the event.
