Installation Ceremony for the RY 2025-26 !
A New Chapter Begins: Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas Installs Leadership for RY 2025-26
On Saturday, July 12, 2025, the Rotary Club of The Himalayan Gurkhas marked a significant milestone with its 22nd Installation Ceremony for the Rota Year 2025-26. Held at Hotel Le Himalaya in Lazimpat, Kathmandu, the event celebrated continuity and new beginnings within the club.
The esteemed Chief Guest for the evening was District Governor Nominee (DGN) Rtn. Dr. IP Dhakal from Rotary International District 3292 Nepal-Bhutan. He was joined by special guests, including Assistant Governor (AG) Rtn. Manju Dhamala Thapa and Immediate Past Assistant Governor (IPAG) Rtn. Arun Man Sherchan.
The ceremony kicked off with a warm welcome from Past President Rtn. Satta Bahadur Gurung, setting a tone of camaraderie and enthusiasm. Assistant Governor Rtn. Siri Gurung then introduced the incoming President, Rtn. Capt. Mohan Kumar Gurung. The formal installation offered DGN Rtn. Dr. IP Dhakal bestowing the traditional collar upon the new president. Further cementing the transition, Charter President Rtn. Major Gopal Bahadur Gurung, MBE, handed over the Charter Certificate, while Immediate Past President (IPP) Rtn. Bhoj Bahadur Khatri handed over the gavel and gong to the incoming President Rtn. Capt. Gurung.
With the new leadership formally established, DGN Rtn. Dr. Dhakal administered the oath of office to President Rtn. Capt. Gurung. Following this, President Gurung introduced his dedicated Board of Directors and Standing Committee Chairs for the Rotary Year 2025-26, who then also took their oaths, pledging their commitment to service.

A moment of appreciation followed as IPP Rtn. Bhoj Bahadur Khatri felicitated the outgoing Board members and committee chairs for their invaluable support during his two-year tenure. IPAG Rtn. Arun Man Sherchan also shared his positive experiences, commending the club as one of Nepal’s most dynamic Rotary clubs.
In a touching gesture, incoming President Rtn. Capt. Gurung and his spouse extended felicitations to IPP Rtn. Khatri and his spouse. IPP Khatri, in turn, expressed heartfelt thanks to RI District 3292, the Assistant Governors, and his team, along with all the spouses, for their crucial support in making the past two Rotary years successful.
The club also welcomed new members into its fold. AG and Past President Rtn. Siri Gurung introduced Rtn. Bishnu Gurung and Rtn. Nabita Thapa, who were formally inducted by AG Rtn. Manju Dhamala Thapa. AG Rtn. Ms. Dhamala Thapa conveyed her gratitude for the warm welcome and called for continued collaboration to ensure a successful Rota Year 2025-26.
Charter President Rtn. Major Gopal Bahadur Gurung, MBE, introduced the Chief Guest, DGN Rtn. Dr. IP Dhakal, who thanked the club for their hospitality. He emphasized the core values of Rotary and outlined the priority areas chosen by District Governor Rtn. Binod Koirala for this Rota Year, expressing optimism for future collaborations. As a token of appreciation, President Rtn. Capt. Gurung presented a memento to DGN Rtn. Dr. Dhakal.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Past President Rtn. Krishna Adhikari, acknowledging the invaluable guidance and support from RI District 3292. Club Admin Chair Rtn. Sadikshya Kandel skilfully managed the event as Master of Ceremony, also providing the attendance and sunshine reports.
